Sachin to play T20 cricket in England

Sachin Tendulkar is expected to be signed up by England county Middlesex to play Twenty20 cricket for them next season, The Guardian reports.
Former Australian wicketkeeper and Deccan Chargers skipper Adam Gilchrist will also play the shortets format for the county next year.

According to The Guardian, the deals, which would be partly funded by the MCC, would engage the players to play five T20 games, all of them at Lord's.

"We expect to make an announcement shortly. The two clubs (MCC and Middlesex) are working closely together," MCC's chief executive Keith Bradshaw was quoted as saying.

Tendulkar, who completed 20 years in international cricket on November 15 will return to the England county circuit after playing for Yorkshire in 1992 as a 19-year-old.

However, this will be the first county stint for Gilly, who has never played domestic cricket in England and has been involved with current IPL champions Deccan Chargers.

"Gilchrist, a member of the MCC's world cricket committee, may extend his affiliation with the MCC beyond the end of the Twenty20 Cup, and he is expected to play for Middlesex against the Australians before their one-day series against England.

The signing of two such internationally renowned players would be extremely lucrative for the MCC, who are currently exploring ways to finance a 400 million pound redevelopment plan", The Guardian went on to add in its report.
