Injured Mathews to return home

Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against India and will return home.

Mathews suffered a thigh injury during his match-winning knock of 37 not out in the second one-dayer against India in Nagpur.

The all-rounder strained his right quadricep while attempting a single and will now be out of action for at least four weeks.

The Sri Lanka Cricket board have decided to send Mathews back home to recover from the injury.
"Angelo Mathews will return home due to the strain he suffered to his right quadricep muscle during the match winning innings last night," the SLC board said.

"Sri Lankan team physio Tommy Simsek is predicting a grade two tear and the healing time is expected take up to four weeks."

Wayamba all-rounder Thissara Perera has been called up as cover for Mathews.
Sri Lanka are already without the services of fast bowlers Thilan Thushara, Dammika Prasad and Dilhara Fernando as well as off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
